Parent/Student Workshop for 6th graders

MiCoCo’s Youth Affinity Group (YAG) has organized a workshop for 6th graders and their parents.

The transition from elementary school to middle school can be difficult for both students and their parents. This workshop seeks to help parents understand the transition that their children are going through, give them some pointers on how to communicate with their kids, encourage them to maintain a steady presence in both their academic lives and social lives in a way that is supportive of their developmental stage.

The students will participate in a variety of workshops where they will be able to express through art what they are experiencing thus far as new middle school students.  Food and childcare provided.

This event will take place on September 29th, 2011 5:30-7:30pm, at the Columbia Park Boy and Girls Club
